Warugumas on Middle Street in San Pedro = Yummy Papusas!

So, its late at night and you are wondering around San Pedro looking for that "it" snack, look no further than Warugumas on Middle Street (the street in between Front Street and Back Street...) Here you will find the "Papusa Lady" frying up some of the best papusas you'll ever have, maybe even the first papusas you've ever had.

What is a papusa you may be asking? Sometimes when I say I am in the mood for Papusa, people think I have said something raunchy. Well, a papusa is a traditional El Salvadoran dish made of a thick corn tortilla, stuffed with cheese, refried beans and either pork, chicken, pumpkin, or anything else that may be on the menu. Its then fried to yummy perefection and topped with curtido (fermented cabbage slaw) and tomato salsa. Yum!

At Warugumas, you will also find great ceviche, and a variety of other Salvadoran dishes, many seafood. This is by far one of our favorite little hole-in-the-wall places!
