Lunch at Restaurant El Chilito

Located at the corner of Calle Rio Ibis and Cameron Sabalo in the heart of the Golden Zone, is Restaurant El Chilito. Its a little patio restaurant with an open kitchen and just a few tables overlooking the busy street.

As soon as we sat down, we were greeted with a smile and a plate full of Chips and Salsa. They offered 3 different salsas, a spicy Pico De Gallo (traditional onion, tomato, cilantro and jalepeno), a really spicy one and a holy-crap-my-mouth-is-on-fire one. To cool your palette they also served a plate of cucumbers, but added radishes, grilled jalepenos and grilled chives. We knew we should have ordered cerveza!

Food came out fast and hot which is always a plus for us. Plate number 1 was a queso quesadilla and a steak taco. The quesadilla was filled with cheese, guacamole and cilantro. The steak taco was filled with hunks of carne asada steak, guacamole, onions and cilantro. Absolutely delish!

Next item up was a huge plate of Carne Asada in sauce with a side of refried beans, corn tortillas, a small salad and a hunk of white cheese. You can see from the below before and after pics, it was edible to say the least!

This was a fabulous lunch and a great price, especially considering the location. 1 entree, 2 a la carte items, salsas and 2 cokes for $125 pesos (thats about $10 USD) We will be back again!
